From outdoor festivals to local markets and everything in between, there's a lot happening close to home this season — and we've rounded up the best of it so you don't miss a thing.
MAY
Maifest

EPIC Fest
Get ready for an awesome day at the EPIC Fest Beer & Wine Festival! This in-person bash is all about savoring amazing brews and fine wines with friends. Whether you're a craft beer fan or a wine lover, there's something tasty for everyone. Chill, sip, and enjoy great vibes in a fun, laid-back setting. Don’t miss out on this EPIC celebration of flavor and fun! Saturday, May 16 from 1-7pm.
Valley Fest
There is no better indication of the arrival of summer than the Shenandoah Valley Beer and Wine Festival held at Massanutten Resort. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the day as you listen to the music of great local bands and sample your favorite beverage from Virginia’s finest micro-breweries and wineries. This year’s Valley Fest is on Saturday, May 23, from 11:30am-6pm. More details and ticket info is available on their website.

JUNE
Golden Pony Farewell Showcase
After 11 years, independent music venue and Downtown Harrisonburg favorite, The Golden Pony, will be closing its doors in June. They have a couple more shows and events scheduled before the Farewell Showcase on June 5-6. Be sure to stop by to relive the good memories or make some new ones at any of their upcoming events. Bach Festival
The Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival is a week-long summer musical festival devoted to promoting appreciation of the music of Bach. You will be sure to enjoy the vocal and instrumental soloists of national acclaim. Past festivals have included performances from the Bach Festival Orchestra and Festival Chorus. This year’s 34th Annual Bach Festival will be June 8-14. Visit their website for more info.
Best. Weekend. Ever.
Best. Weekend. Ever is a free summer festival in Downtown Harrisonburg, presented by Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance. This year it will be on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 1-5pm (and is rumored that it’s going to be the best one yet!). With live music, sip & stroll, kids activities, putt-putt, local vendors and more, this event is fun for all ages! More details will be released soon. Get all the info here.
Red Wing Roots Festival
Started in 2013, the Red Wing Roots Festival is a family-friendly event featuring outdoor activities, delicious food vendors, camping (if you so choose), and live music. It takes place about half an hour outside of Harrisonburg at the beautiful Natural Chimneys Park and Campground. If you don’t have kids, it’s a great event to attend with friends as well. You can sit down with your food, a beer, and enjoy live music into the night. This year’s festival is June 19-21. See their website for more info.
