Meet the Agent: Amy Jefferson

Meet the Agent: Amy Jefferson

We’ve recently welcomed Amy Jefferson to our office. It’s been wonderful getting to know her, and we know you’ll think so too!

Read on to “meet” Amy Jefferson.

What brought you to the Valley?

I am originally from Alexandria, Virginia but I started visiting the Valley during summers when I was in college. I fell in love with the people, the mountains, and the much slower pace of the area. When my husband and I got engaged, we decided to make the Valley our home. We are living our best lives in the most beautiful place, and we couldn't be happier to call the Valley our home.

How did you get into real estate?

I have always loved houses and architecture, and I can find beauty in everything. My husband and I began investing in real estate in 2021, and we have continued to purchase and renovate properties throughout the years. I enjoy working on houses and turning neglected, tired properties into beautiful places that families can call home.

What was your previous career?

I have worked in higher education for the past 18 years, and my time has included various experiences. From working with non-traditional, non-degree seeking students, to working with prospective students and families, to managing a 250,000 sq foot facility, my work has been meaningful and impactful.

How has that prepared you for real estate?

I am a people person at heart, and I love serving others. My previous experience in higher education has strengthened my ability to listen and communicate effectively. I love to seek out solutions to challenging situations, and I love making connections and building relationships. I have sharpened my ability to multi-task, and I have great attention to detail- all of these skills transfer well into the real estate field.

What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?

I chose to work with Nest Realty over other brokerages because of the people. Everyone at Nest is kind, supportive and welcoming. The culture at Nest is unlike any other brokerage I have interacted with. The professional, yet approachable office layout leads to productive meetings- while encouraging a collaborative work environment. Everyone at Nest is encouraging and helpful and responds quickly when you have a question. Nest is a smaller brokerage that provides individual attention to its clients and genuinely thinks of everyone as family. I am thrilled to be part of Nest Realty!

What is your favorite part of being an agent?

My favorite part of being an agent is being able to truly serve others. I get to listen to their needs and help guide them through the buying or selling process. I love that each day is a little different, and that keeps things fresh and exciting.

Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?

As an investor who buys properties and renovates them, I can "see" what a home can become. I understand the power of paint, I know how great floors look when they are refinished, and I appreciate a home with good bones. I am eager to help first time home buyers who can put in some sweat equity, and I am eager to work with anyone interested in becoming an investor or investors looking to grow their real estate portfolio.

What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?

I am intuitive, and I am a true people person- and I enjoy working with anyone at any age. I understand young first-time homebuyers and their challenges, and I am compassionate as I work with people who are considering downsizing as their lifestyle changes. I also understand the rental market, and I can assist potential investors as they navigate the process of purchasing an investment property. Any age, any stage of life and any opportunity to sell or purchase real estate- I can help!

What are five adjectives that describe you?

capable, compassionate, honest, reliable, trustworthy

Who would be your dream client?

George Clooney - no explanation needed :)

If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?

Cosmetic updates can always be made, but location is permanent. Buy the best property in your preferred location and you can make aesthetic changes as your budget allows.

What is your favorite season in the Shenandoah Valley?

My absolute favorite season in the Shenandoah Valley is Fall. The colors are stunning, and I bake all the apple pies, apple crisps and pumpkin pies my friends and family can eat!
